What is Lark Tuscaloosa?

Is Lark Tuscaloosa part of the University of Alabama?

Can I live with friends, or can you match me with roommates?

You can select your roommate(s), or you can apply on your own and we can match you with other students. Applicants answer a short list of lifestyle questions to help in the matching process.

What are per-person contracts?

Instead of requiring all roommates to sign a joint lease, each person at Lark Tuscaloosa has their own individual contract, with one person per bedroom. This means you are only responsible for paying for yourself — not your roommates. Even if a roommate moves out or other bedrooms in your apartment are empty, you only pay the rate for your bedroom. What is included in the rent?

Each resident at Lark Tuscaloosa pays a flat rate that includes:

  • High-speed Internet
  • Water/sewer
  • Trash removal
  • Furnishings
  • 24-hour on-site management
  • Community features – fitness center, pool, clubhouse, etc.

What size are the apartments at Lark?

The spacious accommodations at Lark Tuscaloosa range from studios through 4-bedroom, each with a private bathroom for every bedroom.

Are the apartments furnished?

Yes, all apartments at Lark Tuscaloosa include a furniture package including a full-size bed, dresser, bedside table, desk and chair in each bedroom, a sofa and armchair, end table, coffee table and entertainment stand in each living room. Plus, all residences also include a dining table and chairs and/or counter stools. To see a sample of the furniture and other finishes, please visit our model residences.

When do the contracts start and end?

The standard term is August 12, 2023 to July 23, 2024, with payments made in 12 equal installments. Other alternate dates may be available; please inquire with our staff. Click here to see a sample Housing Agreement.

Is a co-signer or financial guaranty required?

Within 7 days after a Housing Agreement is signed, each resident is required to do one of two things: provide a qualifying guarantor (often a parent), or pre-pay the final installment.

Can I pay by credit card?

Yes. Residents can pay online 24 hours per day, by credit card or ACH electronic checking. Lark Tuscaloosa also offers automatic payment by either credit card or checking account — just fill out one page, one time and payments will be made automatically. Convenience fees apply for credit card and debit card payments.

Will my financial aid cover charges at Lark?

Your living costs at Lark Tuscaloosa can be covered by financial aid, just like on-campus housing. Any available financial aid funds, after university charges are satisfied, are released to the student for non-institutional expenses, such as off-campus housing. These funds can be used to pay charges at Lark Tuscaloosa. Normal payment deadlines will continue to apply.

Is Lark open to non-students?

Nearly all the residents at Lark Tuscaloosa are students at University of Alabama. The per-person contracts are also designed with students in mind. Nonetheless, Lark Tuscaloosa is an Equal Opportunity housing provider and welcomes applications from non-students. Family members are welcome as well, subject to occupancy limits. Because of the need to match student roommates, non-students must apply together with enough roommates to fill the desired residence.

What kind of safety and security are provided?

Lark Tuscaloosa has fire sprinklers, and electronic locks plus individually locking bedroom doors. Community courtesy patrols are provided at select times. Management staff are also on-site 24×7 and can be reached by a 24-hour phone number.

What are the policies on pets, smoking and guests?

Lark Tuscaloosa is pet-friendly, subject to limits on animals and breed. The community is smoke-free in all indoor areas. Guests are welcome at all times, subject to the consent of roommates and security considerations. Overnight guests are welcome, with limits on the number of days and guests.

Can I park my vehicle at Lark?

Lark Tuscaloosa offers both garage and surface parking. Reserved garage spaces are available for a small additional fee. Limited guest parking is also available at no charge.

What other transportation options will I have?

Lark Tuscaloosa uses the Crimson Ride from 7am to 9pm and you can track it with the Ryder app at anytime.

The first regular rent installment and annual administrative fee are due August 1, 2023. Approved guarantor or alternate partial prepayment required.
